When Your Words Travel Further Than You Expected

This week, something extraordinary happened to me. Elephant Journal — a platform I’ve long admired for the space it gives to honest voices and personal stories — published my essay, “My Accent Is the Language of Courage.”

It wasn’t easy to write this story. Old memories, insecurities, and moments of self-doubt connected to it. But I wrote it because, when I looked around me, there was no one truly ready or willing to listen or learn from it.

Everyone is busy living their own lives, running their own worlds, chasing their own missions. There isn’t always time to pause and hear someone else’s story.

Maybe this piece is a self-discovery. Maybe I once saw myself as a weak woman struggling through life, only to realize I have done more than I ever gave myself credit for.

I know my doubts and insecurities aren’t just my own. What exists within one of us often exists within many of us. That’s the truth of being human.

If you’d like to read it, you can find the essay right here.

If the essay speaks to you, please consider leaving a like and share your own experience in the comments. I’ll read every message and truly treasure it.

Warmly,

Martrutt
